We Have Moved! Our new location for weekly worknights is 2523 George Nick Connor Dr, and they will continue every Sunday from 4-7pm. Please park cars across the street and bring bikes into or behind the house. Hope to see you there.

Due to some flea problems we’ve been having, we’re moving this Sunday’s worknight to the 7th ward, and into the space that will eventually be our new home. Come join us for our worknight at the regular time (4-7) just a few miles east on Broad at 2525 George “Nick” Connor Drive. Our new location is about a block away from the rear of St. Aug high school. Hope to see you there!

Note: if you use GPS, it will use 2525 Havana!

Way to go Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns, and Debauche for winning those awards at the Big Easy Music Awards! They were kind enough to perform at B2P fundraisers in the past, and are still killing it!

CDs, not books.

Not book related, but no less important. If you have CDs you are planning on getting rid of, consider donating them to WWOZ this week. They’ll get them to the Louisiana State Prison radio station AKA “Angola” where they will be played by the inmate DJs over the airwaves. Help give them a chance where their biggest concern is coming up with a playlist for the prison.

If you don’t have any CDs, please share this so it gets around before Friday.

This Wednesday, we will be having our uptown worknight from 6-9PM, for those of you who have trouble making it to Mid-City.

Due to the Super Bowl, our February 3rd worknight will be abbreviated. 4-6PM rather than our usual 4-7PM schedule.

Due to Mardi Gras, and anticipated shenanigans, the February 10th worknight will be cancelled.

We’re up for a possible share for a grant, and time is running out. Please click on the link, go to page 14, and vote for Jazzland Park’s group ten times. Today is the final day, and this could keep even more books going to those who need them most. Please spread the word!

Hey folks, this Sunday the 5th we’ll be starting at our usual time and place then heading to 1214 N. Johnson to participate in the Valentine’s Day Card Making Party for Prisoners, the info is below:

Hey friends!

Happy almost-February! Carnival is fast-approaching, and there’s that little blip called “Valentine’s Day,” that I’d just as soon be happy to let ya’ll slip under the radar, if it weren’t that Lydia and I are so looking forward to your joining us at a Valentine’s Day Card Making Party for Prisoners–next Sunday 2/5 from 5-8pm at 1214 N. Johnson (my house).

This Valentine’s Day, we are gonna spread the tradition of sending love to people inside. Prisoner support and advocacy organizations have had similar events in the past and in 2012 we want to open up the opportunity for people around the country to send love to folks locked up. We want them to feel the love of the community and know that they are not forgotten. This project is happening across the country as a project of Black and Pink an amazing antiprison organization.

We will provide fun crafty supplies but feel free to bring some to share as well*! We will provide some food and additional light snacks would be welcome.
